Introducing :: The Bike Series!
Why would I do a series of photos of bicycles? Because I LOVE them!

I think every bicycle is a piece of art, even the mass produced ones (but not the ones they sell at Wal-Mart). I love vintage bikes and their old, rusty parts. I love how every old cruiser I come across is different than any other I’ve seen. I love and want to know the stories of every person who has been on it. Where did they go? Was it stolen at some point? Was it a Christmas gift? Did someone learn how to ride a bike on this very bike I’m looking at?! I love cutting edge, brand new, shiny road bikes. How perfect they are. How smooth they ride. How advanced they are! I love plastic three wheel bikes that little kids ride. I love anyone who can ride a unicycle. I love those bikes that welded onto other bikes making them super tall. I love little bitty clown bikes. I love the song “Bicycle” by Queen. I think you get the point.
I’ve been wanting to do a photo series for a while now and couldn’t decide what to do. Then, as I was sitting in my living room looking at the bike art Mark made for me and the two framed photos of New Belgium bikes in our living room, I realized…bicycles! Different parts, different models, old ones, new ones, people riding them, whatever. Once my new site launches (sometime before March…hopefully) I’ll have a featured gallery where I’ll share the series and photos will be available for purchase. I’ll also blog updates on the series as I come upon awesome bicycles, thus, my first Bicycle Series post!
The other day I spent some time at my favorite antique store in Jasper. When I pulled up, there were two amazing old Schwinn’s outside. I went back the next day and got lots of shots of both bicycles because there were so many things about each bike that I liked. Here are the results! The first three photos were taken on a Canon 5D with a Lensbaby Composer with a macro filter.

My favorite so far! This will definitely be printed on a canvas for our house.

**This is project #1 of 2 I’m working on this year (thus the new ‘projects’ category). Come back in a few days to see the other one!**

so, i was just browsing your site after i was abruptly reminded how awesome you and mark are after the johnson wedding, and i have to say, i am S.U.P.E.R. pumped about the bicycle series. call me nerdy or whatever, i’m excited.
